I. Lucian Sarbu
Born in Bucharest, Romania, Mr. Sarbu is the latest in a distinguished line of artists that spans three generations. He began his lifelong commitment to art studies when he was just 9. By the age of 26, he had been authorized by the Romanian Patriarchy to restore ancient cathedrals and churches. Lucian Sarbu is expert in all six classical mural techniques:

- Byzantine frescoes
- Italian frescoes
- Tempera
- Oil
- Encaustic
Now living in the United States, Lucian is producing murals and trompe l'oeil in both commercial and residential applications. Using faux finishes and special finishes that are carefully matched to the aesthetic requirements of each assignment, he brings to the Americas the excellence and refinement of the European masters.
Before coming to America, Lucian painted more than 27,000 square feet of fresco in Northern Transylvania cathedrals. He successfully restored some 2,800 square feet of oils in the south of Romania. His work is proudly displayed in collections in Germany, Greece, Italy, and France.
That tradition of excellence continues here in the United States. He has painted murals for a private residence on Balboa Island, and collaborated with a major art gallery on a project at the Hilton Hotel and Tower in Las Vegas. His restoration work can also be seen at the Antigua Gallery in Laguna Beach.
Whether the commission is for an intimate, cloistered entryway in a private home or a soaring mural in the most public of locales, Lucian's passion is to create modern works of art that pay attentive homage to the classic work of the great masters.
